Galveston Bay is the 7th largest estuary in the United States. Covering over 600 square miles, the bay stretches from the Gulf of Mexico up 45 miles to the Port of Houston. With hundreds of miles of shoreline availble for wadefishing and its vast amount of live oyster reefs, Gaveston Bay is one of the premier fishing locations on the Gulf Coast.
The enormous bay is broken into 5 segments, Upper Galveston Bay, Lower Galveston Bay, Trinity Bay, East Bay, and West Bay. Fed by both the San Jacinto River and the Trinity River, the bay maintains just the right blend of Salt and Fresh water to maintain the proper salinity for the fish and other species to survive and breed. On the west end of the bay, Chocolate Bayou acts as the fresh water influx to the bay and directly to San Luis Pass.
